The Dark Tribe has 5 attempts to try to get their thirst, hunger, and stamina up by trying to hunt, fish, or cook.
If you want to try to save your tribe, then volunteer by saying what task you want to do. If you succed fishing or hunting, then you gain a skill point for whichever one you did but you have to succeed at cooking so your status' to go up.
