I may add some circles to the end on the fins to keep it smooth....
This is a concept I've been thinking about for a while and I
thought it best to try it in Algodoo. It doesn't rev high, most
likely due to the friction generated from the fins and the
general lack of efficiency this has in Algodoo. I'd expand on it
further, but I don't see much point in what I can do with it
in here. If this were applied in real life it could work, and theoretically
it'd work fine, but some type of restriction or locking system would
be needed to reduce the friction at higher rpm's. A single spark plug probably
could barely run this engine at idle, imagine a 2 stroke v12, but small and it
somehow only fires from a single spark plug. At 10,000rpm one plug in this motor would
fire 2,000 times every single second which is insane. 8 spark plugs could barely
cut it at 250 times a second, which is like a 2 stroke single cylinder at 15,000rpm
or a 4 stroke single cylinder at 30,000rpm.
I can see an engine of this type running in a small plane, but I can't
predict how it'd act in real life. The seals required would be a pain.
Like a Wankel, but 12 more problems to deal with.
The original idea I had years ago was that it could be used with variating
firing patterns. Say every other chamber could be fired using direct injection
and electronic ignition or 3 of 12 per cycle or 4 of 12 and so on. Different
patterns would be intended for different sounds and higher efficiencies
when power would be less important then saving some fuel. Imagine
if it were in a car going 120km/h down a highway, the motor would run at
a lower pattern like 4 or 6 of the 12 chambers firing rather than all 12. Not the
best solution, but kind of cool to imagine I guess. Especially hearing someone
say, "...so I blew the seals in my duodenary fin in my second vane rotor..."
