This is loosely based off a double-acting piston steam engine. It's not very fast, but it's as good as I could get it with this design!

This is a very neat design, and i like the rainbows, but maybe you should change the blur value up, since this is a steam engine, not a solid circle engine. But great work i say!

pipin, nice idea! I'll try it out right now.

While, yes, it'd be great if Algodoo had real steam, the pressure provided by circles demonstrates clearer:)
Hence the multi-colours, so you can follow the pressure!
Well, I've tried two methods, both with high edgeBlur:
one changes colour from red to blue, depending on how fast the particle is moving
the other just looks like steam

But the problem is both use up a hell of a lot of GPU power!

However, even though the actively coloured one does use lots of CPU, it doesn't affect things too much, and so I've switched to that!
