Reason: He was writing something in his diary, so he could have used markers to write and then left them in the pool and hallway. He then could have went to the attic and pulled the lever.

red simply dug a hole leading to the basement, and had the floor move aside when the lever was pulled. Also there was another murder attempt where he just ahad a hole and wrote on them in marekers to make them confused but ti failed

Someone dug a hole to the basement leading to two shredders. While eating breakfast the killer pulled the lever activating the shredder trap killing the two poor souls. Before that the markers were supposed to weaken them by making them dizzy before finally getting shredded into pieces. FATALITY!!
