Honestly, i'm suprised NASA hasn't launched any programs yet to try and remove these object from space. Something like a large strong fiber net could be attached to some sort of satelite that could possibly be remotely controlled, and catch the objects.

However, Ultra, budget cuts. Tons of budget cuts. For every 200 dollars spent to fund the military, only one dollar is sent to NASA.
Also, size. Some chunks of decommissioned spacecraft can be as small as a chip of paint or even dust.
Not to mention speed. Objects in low earth orbit can be moving at up to 18000 miles per hour, making even a steel ball the size of a pin as deadly as a bullet. There was an instance not too long ago where a window on the International Space Station was struck with a bolt no bigger than your thumb and could have entirely destroyed the window, but the glass is more than an inch thick, so the onboard astronauts were safe. I wonder what that would sound like from inside.
