WHAT'S THIS? INFORMATION TRAVELING FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF LIGHT? I DON'T THINK SO.
WHAT THE HECK ALGODOO? HOW U MANAGE TO DO DIS?
I'm not hating, im just playing. The two particles travel at virtual light speed. One crashes into a bunch of adhesive blocks, and the other crashes into a block. The information traveling faster than light is a specific block's velocity, which is the one that is purple. It accelerates before the "photon" reaches it, which should not be possible if it were obeying atomic traffic law that no information can travel faster than light.

No laws were broken. And nothing is travelling even close to light speed. Your particle is pushing against those green boxes. That's why the purple box begins to accelerate before the particle gets there. It's similar to a train engine pushing on a long line of train cars. The last car will begin to move well before the engine arrives at that location where the car originally was located before it started moving. Nothing unusual here!
That's just the game telling you that, nothing is travelling close to the speed of light ,infact nothing is even travelling at all since this is the display of a computer.
Of course nothing is travelling because Algodoo is just a computer simulation program. As a matter of fact, I did not type this comment that you are currently reading. My fingers pressed some keys on a keyboard, which are simple electrical switches, and that caused a complex series of electrical activity (aka, signals) which eventually ended up here on the Algobox web site. And all of the graphics and text that you see do not exist anywhere on the actual web site because they are just electrical patterns that are stored on some server computer. Then when your personal computer interrogates the web site, it converts the graphics and text electrical patters from the web site into images and text that you (the human) can see and understand. The whole world is one big lie! :o
omg i did not expect this much philosophical stuff
im stating that the simulation is not perfect and doesn't obey a few laws of physics
if you had a long train that wrapped around the world and the engine started moving forward, the caboose could not start moving instantly, as the force information takes about a seventh of a second to get around the earth at the speed of light. my key point is that information CANNOT move faster than light speed, but the boxes at the end start moving befort the other circle passes it. We can agree that the boxes wont move if nothing pushes it. the boxes can't start moving unless the upper circle meets up with it.
and xray. imagine the train engine suddenly reaches the speed of light. the end simply cannot start moving before light from the engine reaches the caboose, as it would make it possible for information to travel faster than light, which is not allowed.
The only exception to all this talk about information not being able to move FTL is the exception that supposedly occurs in quantum mechanics (Einstein called it "Spooky action at a distance"), and it is known as quantum entanglement. It's where two twin sub-atomic particles "know" when the other twin has changed state exactly when the action occurs without any delay at all. Not even light speed delays! It's crazy stuff that they can make happen with some crazy mathematics, and some scientists supposedly made it actually happen in some weird experiment. That stuff is WAY over my head, and so if you want to learn more about it, then GOOGLE it.
Good point. Though it is true that entanglement IS possible, it is either impossible in algodoo, or it is really really hard. In my simulation, there is no entanglement. No tricks, yet the boxes start accelarating much before a signal the speed of light reached it.
