You can find the distance between two geometries like this:
math.vec.dist(geom1.POS,geom2.POS)

When using a laser, in the onLaserHit event, you can do something like this:

onLaserHit (e)=> {_dist = math.vec.dist(pos, e.geom.pos)}

The local variable _dist will have the actual distance value between the laser and the geometry that the laser beam hits. You can also use a global variable such as scene.my.distance.
