The sun's magnetic field shifts and changes every 11 years. Why is that? To awnser that, we need to go in the sun. In the core, Hydrogen is Fused into Helium, this makes a bunch of energy and heat, so much so that the sun isn't solid or liquid or gas, but plasma. the plasma is made of charged particles, these include protons, neutrons, electrons, stable nuclei, and more. As it flows, it makes a magnetic field, but unlike the charged particles that make Earth's magnetic field, these particles are constantly shifting, or in other words, flowing. This "flowing" causes the Magnetic field's North and South to change over time. Thus, making a chaotic magnetic field. So long story short, the sun's fusion makes heat that creates plasma from hydrogen atoms, this plasma flows, making an unstable magnetic field. |
