Some post-war Swedish tank concept that I came up with.
I learned a lot of lessons from @PoloNice , and will be using his scale from now on.
Although this has friction-based tracks and a scriptied gun, it's still my best tank, because of its art.
ALSO my first tank to work at 60 Htz!! I previously used 150-250!!
Backstory:
Tensions have been rising in Europe for a long time now, and everyone knows that the continent is primed for another world war. Neutral Sweden had been supplying Germany with iron, and feared that foreign countries may make them a target. Development for another tank, the Strv. M/42 was well underway, but seemed lacking in terms of armor and mobility, compared to rumored German and British armor starting to enter production. So, designers used the M/42 to make the new tank, but not without some changes. Armor was increased, the gun was improved, and a new, balistically well shaped turret was added. However, despite having a better engine, the added weight negated most of the benefits. The new tank, now dubbed the M/44, was similar in size to a BT-7, but was much more capable. By the end of World War Two, its 96mm angled upper plate would've been able to take a hit, but glaring weakspots like the lower plate and sides would make it incredibly vulnerable to even early-war 37mm anti-tank cannons. One prototype was made, but was lost when Germany invaded in 1940. The prototype was rediscovered in 1951, and because the M/42 had just been retired, it seemed that the M/44 could be a vialbe replacement, just with a few modernizations. The project was quickly halted, as the original blueprints were destroyed in an accident where a transport plane became misaligned during a foggy landing. All the cargo was incinerated, which was mostly spare parts and documents for the M/44. Funding was cut, and the Swedish Army went back to the M/42, to see if they could modernize that instead. The result was the Strv. 74, a somewhat odd tank, but it did get the job done, which would've completely phased out the M/44, if it did ever make its unlikely return.
CONTROLS:
Arrow keys to move and elevate/depress gun
Enter to shoot main cannon
Shift for MGs
I think I made it too large; it's literally the size of a T-72 D: |
