I tried to do something like this that was a telescope/astronomy thing but it never made it to anything near this level of awesomeness! Its great to see you still making such great scenes after all these years!
Unless I'm doing something wrong, the up/down arrow keys don't seem to do much at all.

The up/down keys don't cause much movement but adjust the focus as evidenced by the change in focal point, the blurring of the virtual image, and the change in position of the real image.
