Electric Arc Welding (also known as "stick welding") creates an extremely hot molten pool of filler metal (the welding rod or "stick") that fills the gap between the two metal objects being welded together. The metal is heated very rapidly by the electric power unit (not shown in this scene) that provides the electric power that creates an arc between the filler rod and the base material being welded. Of the three common types of electric arc welders (Stick, MIG, and TIG), the stick welder is the least expensive and the easiest to learn.
