If the first gear span at 60rpm it would take
317,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000-
,000,000,000,000,
000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00-
0,000,000,000,000 years for the last gear to spin once!
A gear train like that one might work in a perfect world, but, in our less-than-perfect world (which happens to be the one we live in), the accumulated back-lash, runout, inertia, and friction would make such a long gear train impossible to function. But it is fun to think about it!
