I know I've been posting a lot of car scenes, but cars are just one of my main interests.
This scene is pretty silly, but I love it!
Basically, I made a new "Mars" map -- with Mars gravity and air friction, and I decided to start racing my cars on it.
Along the way I made a purple classic car (which I named the Lavender) and decided to make a copy of it and completely revamp the internals.
The engine has been replaced with a modern 0.96L 4-cylinder spring engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission (details about how to change it to manual below)!
I also added a few fun things to it -- the spoiler, the new paint job (p.s. the car is named The Donut because of its donut-like paintjob!), a retractable roof, and extendable suspension.
Controls:
W - Toggle lifted suspension
A - Reverse Gear
S - Brakes
D - Drive Gear (Automatic transmission by default, car will shift gears on its own)
Q - Extend/Retract Convertible Roof (animation is a WIP)
As for the transmission, you can convert it to a manual!
Simply select the entire car, open the script menu, and change the _mode variable from 1 to 2.
After this, the transmission will be in manual mode and you can select the gear by pressing the numbers 1-5. (no clutch or neutral sadly...)
The transmission is a general-purpose transmission I built for my cars that can operate in CVT, Automatic, or Manual depending on the mode. Unfortunately, this transmission does not have the proper configuration to run as CVT, but still!
I have also improved the engine a bit -- I added some decorations to it and made it so that, when the engine goes significantly over-rev, it has a chance to spin a bearing and eventually throw a rod and seize!
Once the engine seizes, the other pistons and the starter motor still try to rotate the engine and it still spins, albeit very slowly with very little power.
Try accelerating to top speed in 3rd gear and shifting to 1st gear for a demonstration!
Things have been rough for me lately, so I thought a silly scene like this was probably in order to brighten things up.
