Although water blows up in YOUR microwave oven scene, in real life it is perfectly Okay and safe to put water in a microwave oven. In fact, that is how microwaves heat food. The microwaves heat the water molecules in the food which then cooks the food. One caution is never place a sealed container with water or anything else into a microwave oven because when the water boils, the pressure will burst the container like a bomb (Just like in your scene!).

Suggestion: Don't place eggs into the microwave.

Closed containers, such as eggs, can explode when heated in a microwave oven due to the increased pressure from steam. Intact fresh egg yolks outside the shell also explode as a result of superheating.
