Just wondering why you call this a 3D fan? The blades move in and out as they go around but I don't see any kind of 3D visual effect.
QUOTE: "WINDOWS USERS ONLY!"

It seemed to work for me just as Xray described, but I'm on Arch Linux, not Windows.
Do you perhaps mean PC only?

EDIT: I just tried it on my iPad and got the same result

Little,I think I meant that as for the colored text, that it
might only show up on Windows.
Xray,I named it 3D because most of the
3D fan scenes on Algobox actually have a blade that rotates
radial, like a normal axle. So I desinged invisible tracks
for the blades and bent them to create a kind of 3D effect.
Algodoo is a 2D physics simulation app, so in order to make an object appear to be moving in 3D we have to do some tricks. We can easily make things move up and down and left and right and also in a circular motion within the x and y planes. So, in order to make an object appear to move or rotate in a third plane (z) we have to fake it by making the object larger and smaller as it would appear when moving away from the viewer and toward the viewer. I have done that with a few of my own scenes with somewhat limited success. If you would like to see some of them search on words like "3D" or "Ball" or "Box" with my username "Xray". I did one scene about a year ago with a rotating ceiling fan. It does look 3D but it was done with an animation, so I guess you can say I cheated just a bit!

The text works for me fine on Linux -- so that's good!

Not sure about older versions of linux though (I update mine at the very least once every few days...)
Xray, thank you for your info. I was
usually making it to use for the 3d scapes that other users make, like a phunlet.
Little, Good for you! Does it work on an iPad?
Also you forgot to put blue text!
Oh, and I forgot to put this!
Speaking of this fan, does anyone know what zDepth does in scripting?
Search for "zDepth" with my name "Xray". I made two demo scenes that explain how it works.

Okay, so zDepth is just like the "Move selected to front" and the "Move selected to back" buttons?:s
Yes, except that the "Move" buttons limit the movement to the very back (lower zDepth number than the current lowest one) or the very front. If the lowest zDepth number of an object happens to be 0.0, then that object will be forced to have a higher zDepth number in order to allow the newly selected object to take its place and will become zDepth 0.0. If other objects need to be shifted to a higher number then Algodoo will automatically do that. No object can have the same zDepth number as any other object.

It's quite different when changing the zDepth of an object via Thyme script. Instead of forcing you to select "front" or "back" you can select a zDepth of any number even if between other objects! The only thing that complicates the move is you need to do the special sequence of "undo", "redo", and "sim.running = true" commands that you see in my sample scenes. There might be a different or even better way to do it, but I don't know of any. I pretty much figured it out on my own! Good luck!

I do figure out things on my own too. I saw a scene about dice and no matter the way I turned them,
the numbers were always upright. I figured out the script was update = angle = 0.
Plus, you don't know of any other ways using Thyme to move an object with zDepth? I thought you were an Admin!
You know I were an Admin? Why would you think that?

Wait... If I were an Admin then who is the current Admin?:s

I have no idea. Maybe wild bill? :s
No, I am the current Admin. I was just trying to be funny in my last comment but I see that it didn't work!
