Mhm!

I am one of those people who let others use my stuff with credit (unless otherwise specified -- some of my stuff is completely public domain) but it's important to note that not everyone is like that.

I once saw a user (whos name will be redacted for privacy) who made a scene and in the description said that others cannot use it, even with credit -- and that's completely okay. It's important to respect these boundaries. _o_
thats all folks!
Great advice.
This is actually an updated version of an older scene with a similar title (Don't bother looking for it because I deleted it). After re-reading my text in that older scene I concluded that it was rather confusing and ambiguous, and so I deleted that older one and posted this one. There always has been, and there still is a lot of confusion about using other people's work in your own scenes, and so I hope that this scene makes the rule somewhat less ambiguous.

I wonder how many people will Google "ambiguous"!
Quote Little: "I am one of those people who let others use my stuff with credit"

Reply: That's great, Little, but looking through some of your recent scenes I didn't notice any mention of that. So, I suggest in every future scene that you provide a statement in the scene description such as: "You may use all or parts of this scene as long as you credit me in your scene description."

BUT, even with a statement like that there still could be an issue if YOU copied someone else's work without permission and then another person copied the thing that you copied! That actually happens a lot here on Algobox!
yo did you get this ideea from me?:s
Yo, NO.
Wow, using a bunch of assets from Xray, not even crediting him, and you're lecturing US about giving credit with said assets
i have a question, does getting ideas from a scene still count as copying? i have like several scenes with an idea based of other scenes.
No, ideas are abstract (nothing more than a mental image). So, it's perfectly Okay to use someone else's idea in your own scenes.

I try not to use other's work in my scenes -- and in the rare cases I do, I ask for permission first. :)

Yes, Little, I know that. You are one of the many users who do follow the rules and you try your best not to violate any of them. As the Algobox Admin, I appreciate that very much because you make my job so much easier!
...okay...
...then.
Now, was Red actually charged for attempting to steal a car?
No, because he gave the owner credit!
Okay!
