RUN THIS IN PHUN OR THE CASINGS WONT EJECT PROPERLY
EDIT: Tweaked it some more
EDIT: New version again, casings now fly out at a better angle and don't fall into the gun
EDIT: New version up, minor tweak
I had been wondering for a while why every machinegun i had seen here on algobox was powered by motors. There had to be a way to make a machinegun work without motors.
This gun uses the rearward motion of the barrel during the first stages of recoil to drag the belt into the gun and work the action. The barrel and bolt have to be locked together in early recoil or there is nowhere near enough energy to feed the belt into the gun. It uses no motors and no scripting at all.
In the earliest versions of this mg, i used the same gas system that's on my gas operated rifle. However, i couldn't get enough power out of it without making the whole thing blow up. I also used real belt links that interlocked but it was a pain in the ass getting them out of the gun so i decided to use removable links instead.
So i decided to use the same mechanism the MG42 uses (short recoil, roller locked operation), and using bullets with double springs (as suggested by Paradigm 29), the bullets now have enough force to travel in a loooong nice arch.
Enough with the talking, instructions:
Right arrow key or drag the trigger to fire.
If the scene lags horribly, just remove some rounds. If you'd like more rounds, the belt can be made pretty damn long (with 30 rounds in the belt, i didn't notice any decrease in reliability at all)
Enjoy, rate and comment (Fun fact, this is the fastest firing springgun ive ever made) |
