Both cars weigh the same. Car number 2 "borrows" energy from a falling weight to get the jump on car number 1. The falling weight at the end of the race is is in the same rotational positon as the start, so the "borrowed" energy is returned. Inspired by The Brachistochrone Problem.

Also, car 2 leads all time while moving down, but on the horizontal path it stops earlier.
What about controllable or automatic clutch to make it move on the horizontal freely?
