The probe is actually detecting the radioactive events that strike it. If you grab the probe with the Move tool and move it closer or farther away, the activity level will change.

NOTES: The meter is not at all calibrated, and in fact it saturates at about 75% of full scale. This scene is of course just a visual demonstration of a Geiger counter, and is far from being accurate or even realistic.

Another good one. I see the sensor affects the motion of the geigers ;) . This is positive proof of the Heisenberg (Werner Heisenberg, not the "Breaking Bad" guy) principle.

Well, I'm rather uncertain about that.

Anyhow, prior to making this Geiger counter scene, I had thought about making a multichannel analyzer (an instrument used for GAMMA SPECTROSCOPY ) ), but to do it right would require a lot of time and effort which I don't have right now.
