I've had a fascination with planes in algodoo for a long time. Mainly because there's no real definite way of building them. With a car you just have an engine and wheels, and it'll work. But planes are harder due to the crappy air physics in algodoo, which means you can't simply build airfoils to generate lift, and there's no z axis so you can't build a propeller either (this looks like it does, but it's an illusion ) For lift I used K wings and for power I used one of my own engines coupled to a density thruster. (Both are by Kilinich, big thanks to him )
Sorry for the wall of text, I have an obsession with airplanes...
I thought someone would rate lol.... Not blaming you, you don't have to if you don't feel like it. Now all those marble race and Algicosathlon bastards pushed my beautiful airplane off the "new" page...
Since I've played with Phun for a LONG time (since like 2008, when it first came out) I'm coming up on my 7th anniversary! Not sure if Phun counts though, but they're basically the same game with a different name
xD I forgot to check on this... I've been too busy with my other airplane (and another monobike, and a tank, and yet another airplane, and... yeah I've got too many projects going at the moment )
@The Linkage - You've built planes? I wanna see them, there aren't a lot of (good) planes on Algobox!
Dude. It's 99.9% stolen. All you did was make the platform bigger and the springs stronger, but it wasn't made to support so much more weight or run at 60hz, so it behaves all glitchy. They even use the exact same variables! If you wanted to make this contest more professionally you would've built your own instead of blatantly stealing someone else's. Only people without a life do that.
eanayayo - Half of these can be explained by bad driving, such as you are shifting to early and the engine stalls, you need to get it past 800rpms like the info in scene says ! But the suspension is realistic, because it will simply bottom out and the car will hit the ground. Normal cars do that too, they usually don't have limiters either. And also gearbox has clutch because real cars have that too.
It actually came from this one time my friend misspelled the word "push" while we were texting one time. I liked it, so I used it for a lot of usernames on various forums and stuff
As far as I know, it doesn't stand for anything. Unless my friend is Illuminati.
Well, shift up at 800 rpm because past then, the engine has less power. You can't build an engine that can run well at 300rpm because it will be unstable (at least me, I like my engines to run fast). But I get the limiter thing. I'll try that out.
And how the hell do your do your clutches anyway? I do them like Vaidas369 and I like his way of doing it.
That's a really great power output for a negative-damping spring engine, they're normally fast but not much torque. That's why I prefer changing target-length/constant because it generally has better torque. For an example see this.
But, well you have a real car, with the clutch pedal, and when you push it then it cuts power from the engine to the wheels so you can then shift gear. OK, technically this is unnecessary in Algodoo because you don't need a clutch to shift gear but I like my cars to be partly-realistic. That's what I aim for, not just having it go fast and work well. Because in real life you need a clutch or else you will damage your gearbox, and i wanted this to be sort of like a real car (not completely, because all of the other stuff you mentioned ).
