That's because truck engines have huge inertia whereas a little piddly car engine like this has relatively little. So if you start in 2nd gear then you will kill engine inertia and it will stall, whereas in a big truck with lots of engine inertia you have that to help you with starting (if you rev engine beforehand).
It also has a manual clutch because this car didn't have an auto clutch in real life!
Well that's because you put it in update. It calculates constantly, even win the sim is paused, unlike postStep which only calculates when the sim is running. It's a nice scene anyhow (with a nice description. I'm giving 8 just for that )
Odd, I'm getting a lot of lag and simtime loss despite the fact that this runs at 60z and has no water. Oh well, there are 3500 parts and almost all of them move....
Hm. The 'engine' doesn't actually do anything, it's just a nice visual effect. Due to the fact that it produces no power, just an axle with torque... there's not much i can measure. It's better than my first car
But it's 41kg! Maybe try to achieve similar efficiency than that i4 you made a while ago? Then it would be like 10 hp which would be fine for a motorcycle or something.
As you can tell by the name... it has... issues. Like, the entire bike shakes everywhere if you throttle up. (It also has very ugly wheels at the moment, and the gearbox doesn't work either. )
Hmm, speed is the same but torque increased from 30 to 80! So it gives 5.36 hp according to my math now.
Then it noticed, it's now over 200kg! So it has actually lost efficiency in the process of tuning it. Before it had 2hp and 40kg, so 0.05hp/kg, but it's now ~5hp and 200kg, so only 0.025hp/kg! Oh well, collide engines are hard to make powerful. I think I got lucky when I built my first one, it was ~360kg and 240 hp. So not that bad.
But spawn engines can be better. My general target is at least 1 hp/kg. Sometimes I get a better power output, sometimes less. I'm just one of those people who builds an engine then just hopes it has good power when tested (OK technically spring engines can have really st00pid (xD) power outputs, but they're totally op anyway so I don't use them too often)
I do have some suggestions, like realistic weight and a working engine! A working gun would also be nice, and don't use page up/down to control the gun because not all keyboards have that.
I'm usually fine with people using my stuff. But when they pull this kind of crap, it really pisses me off. Please go collect a life by making something worth it!
I can make it have 10000 hp just by putting scene.my.thr at 600. It's only got 800hp right now because scene.my.thr is only 25 at full throttle, I did that so the power would be realistic and also so I could minimize vibration, because the thing is so damn heavy!
