Yes but without a real script it is much more interesting I think!
Scripts are little helpers but if you can realize your scene without scripts - especially if it is a scene with complex mechanisms - then you are a greater "master" of physics!

in reallife there would be a few solutions to do that. but you need a 3d physical space to do that.

Little suggestion: The growing rate is too fast - slow it down a little bit and it would be more challenging!;)
