Thank you! It's probably a bit overcomplicated but I think it's pretty unique that the speed can be changed from a complete stop to full speed with this mechanism without changing the motor speed.
Why are people voting on different colored circles in a physics simulator? What does the outcome of the poll affect? Why am I still wasting my time looking at Algobox only to find this garbage?
There's a bug when you're near the edge of a ladder and you shoot while walking into the ladder, Mario goes flying up off the screen. It kept making me lose because I have a habit of hitting two buttons at once!
Besides that glitch this is a really neat game! Best score 500!
I need to build one of these going around my property! Maybe read a book while I'm pedaling!
By the way, I've been subscribed to you for some time now (c. 2011? Time flies!) and I really appreciate the time you take to upload worthwhile scenes! Both you and Xray are basically the only reason I keep checking back on Algobox.
Having said that, I'm sorry to say I'm losing interest in your scenes due your lack of different colored marbles and stickmen...
Very cool! The 3rd gen chargers are sadly overshadowed by their predecessors, but having seen them in person, I'd say they're just as beautiful as the rest!
Well made scene. However, I just wanted to point out that the way you have it working is actually incorrect. In real clocks the escape gear is actually powered by a spring or weight mechanism, not by the pendulum. The only purpose of the pendulum is to limit how much and how often the gear turns. The gear also restores energy to the pendulum lost by friction.
Easily fixed in your scene just by powering the gear and upping the torque a bit!
Thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely give that a go tomorrow.
I think I'll also try splitting the ring gear into 4 pieces to make it less complex in hopes of improving the quality of the teeth. I'm not sure if that's purely a graphical fix but it does seem to make a difference.
Hello, I'm a concerned parent. I've noticed that the seat of your swing is made of wood. I refuse to let my son Zayden play on that swing in fear of him getting a splinter on his tushie. Many other parents have also complained that their children's hands have gotten slightly sore due to the unprotected rope.
We have started a petition to tear down your swing in favor of a public WiFi hotspot.
Very cool scene! By the way, that YouTube channel you posted in your "Converging Lens Ray Trace" scene is amazing.
@Xray
While you're at it, build them this to learn how to ride a bike! It's also a little more practical. The Bricycle
If you're feeling a bit twisted, you can set it to counteract gravity and they won't be able to steer!
P.S. Yes, I found that from Googling "zero length spring" because I am but a wee chemist who left his spring knowledge back in college.
Great! I can't wait to see it! I've been having a heck of a time trying to get it to work!
I'll have to see if I can get Algodoo to run properly on my old laptop when I get to my hotel tomorrow. My newer one's hard drive decided to fail a week ago...
Very nice! When I uploaded this, I was hoping the both of you would give it a go. I'm glad you guys took on this challenge!
At first I thought this seemed like a very simple puzzle (to the point that it didn't seem very puzzle-like at all), but after scrambling it better, it becomes moderately challenging to solve.
I've come up with a few ideas on how to make this a fully functional without the use of thyme. I've also come to the conclusion that anything I do will be over-complicated and impractical. The end result might be virtually unplayable. Having said that, I'm still not giving up on this!
@Xray
I still look forward to seeing your solution to making this work! Just don't force yourself to work on it for my sake. Only do it if you actually enjoy working on it!
This is what I was originally planned to do on the disk puzzle. I was just so anxious to get it working that I took the lazy, and very ineffective route. I'm going to redo the puzzle using this design.
