Spawn engine contest 2015
Hi everyone!
Let's start another contest!
Spawn engine contest
General rules:
1) Must fit within 1m x 0.5m box (spawning particles included, no leak or stick out)
2) Mass of engine must be less than 100kg (spawning particles included as it’s part of engine)
3) All parts must have at least one collision group (non-zero collideSet)
4) Fixed ratio transmission allowed (to optimize output power)
5) Must be stable as rock – no reaction force to fly or bend
6) Clockwise rotation
Physics tech rules:
1) Simulation frequency 120Hz (double of standard 60Hz)
2) No external source of energy of any kind except collision force of spawned geoms
3) No unrealistic physical values like negative damping etc.
4) No size/mass change in script
5) Max inertiaMultiplier is 2
6) No world constant change (like Sim.limitAngVel etc.)
7) Hinges legacyMode=1
8) Any script allowed
Winning condition:
1) Should pass stability test – stay on special table until stall
2) Put your engine on test vehicle and pull special load further than any other could do (load weight increasing with sim.time)
Prize:
Algodoo cup with your engine image (so better make it looks good)
Final date: Nov 8, 2015
Post your engine as reply to that scene!
And this is test table for checking engine stability...
It will stop if something touch the glass or fall.
Let's start another contest!

Here it is an example how to put your engine in contest environment:

Re: Spawn engine contest 2015
Here's my first shot at an entry...
Well, it's terrible, to sum it up. It goes about half as far as yours and almost consistently fails the stability criteria. I considered not even uploading it but I'll build another one.

OK, now I reworked my design, if you sit around long enough it can almost hit 1 kilometer -
It's very stable, and I think it got to something like 900 Nm on the stability test. Not bad!

Rule update: Engine must be hinged to platform! No fixates/glue.

Power itself is not a victory. Don't show off!
I'll check you engine against rules everythink sholud fits 1x0.5 during all time!

wikipedia wrote:Truck and Tractor pulling, also known as power pulling, is a motorsport competition, popular in United States, Europe (especially in the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany), Australia and Brazil, and New Zealand which requires modified tractors to pull a heavy sled along a 35 foot wide, 330 foot long track, with the winner being the tractor that pulls the sled the farthest. The sport is known as the world's most powerful motorsport, due to the multi-engined modified tractor pullers.
All tractors in their respective classes pull a set weight in the sled. When a tractor gets to the end of the 100 metre track, this is known as a "full pull". When more than one tractor completes the course, more weight is added to the sled, and those competitors that moved past 300 feet will compete in a pull-off; the winner is the one who can pull the sled the furthest.
The sled is known as a weight transfer sled. This means that as it is pulled down the track, the weight is transferred (linked with gears to the sled’s wheels) from over the rear axles and towards the front of the sled. In front of the rear wheels, there is a "pan". This is essentially a metal plate and as the weight moves over this the resistance builds. The further the tractor pulls the sled, the more difficult it gets.
The most powerful tractors, such as those in the 4.5 modified class in Europe, can produce over 10,000 horsepower.
Why based on sim.time when load should move closer only when the tractor is moving and increase only when at least two tractors did "full pull"?

Re: Spawn engine contest 2015
You should make the ruler longer or, even better, make the weight scale faster, because mine did like 8 km in 8 minutes. It's not a pleasant thing to look at for 10 minutes, believe me

Re: Spawn engine contest 2015
Maybe you'r right, but for quick check you could increase start weight to 500 and multiplirer to 100.
