Moderators Needed(By the Community's Request)
(Reposted)
So along with the more social needs of a moderator that have been discussed, it has become apparent by the recent spam attack that protection against such threats at this point is highly inadequate. If a moderator is going to fill the position, we need to get on it, because as of now, we have no active moderation. Reporting posts and having them deleted the next day really isn't my idea of adequate protection, and this is coming from someone who has a very limited philosophy of moderation.
Now I'm the last person that would ask for this, so Tatt, if you're reading, take that as a sign that something needs to be done. We appreciate your help, but you're not on all the time(And you can't really be expected to be) and you can't handle everything on your own. That's just the nature of a forum this size. As an admin on a business's site, it is your responsibility to maintain a decent environment, and the responsible thing to do would be to get some help.
It's a universally accepted(by most members) belief that we need an active member to be promoted, so make your choice, please. I'm going to try to not stick my own opinions into it, but I think it's generally agreed that we need an active member that's a veteran of the community(Been here since 2008ish), has minimalist principles, and is mature. Check out this thread for some debating on the subject if you want some community input. I'm not going to try to dictate your choice, but I believe the community should have some say in the matter.

I noticed that the spam attack began shortly after Emanuel said he decreased the distortion on the Captchas at TC42's request. Hmm.....
Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.

Recently, I discovered something a lot of you probably already knew: Minecraft is awesome.
Due to this, I may not be as active as usual for a while.

Now the spambots aren't even trying to conceal their links. Also, they seem to think* that you can put HTML into the comment box.
Se, I was going to PM Emanuel about that, but I forgot, and that really wasn't a request. It was a rant. Well, mostly, anyway. And I really don't think that the captcha will decrease the spam all that much. I bet Emanuel/Tatt has already turned it back up again.
And we need mods, or admins or at least something to get rid of all the spammage! I am sure that all the active members here agree. I honestly don't even care who they appoint (okay, lets keep it realistic--please don't appoint HavingPhun), just as long as some action is taken. This spam is really about to start ticking me off!!

You wouldn't be a good mod anyway.
Notice that he said it would be unrealistic if you were appointed.

Excuse me? When a child tells an adult that he's immature, it's sort of ironic, no?

I've once again increased the distortion, but it should be easier to read than before it was increased the first time.
Let me know if it's too hard to read and if any of you have some spare time, fell free to test the difficulty to read a couple of captchas.
I'll talk to the others here at Algoryx about adding more moderators.

I don't know about you guys, but I completely love that we now have an admin who actually goes on the meta forum section and listens to us.

No, it's not out of the ordinary.
Doesn't mean it's not ironic.
Anyway, the distortion on the captchas seems ok, but I kind of have an unfair advantage, since I've been doing them for years.

No offense, but neither of you have been here long enough to have any legitimate input on the matter.

None taken... however...
...by your logic, JRV, Emanuel shouldn't be an admin since he wasn't here in 2009 (unless he was monitoring the forum members under a different name). And he's the best admin we've ever had; you said so yourself.
Well, that ^ just sounds rude. I may not have joined until recently, but I have read the new and old forums thoroughly, so I am no completely ignorant... and since I plan to stay a member of the forum, I think that I ought to have some input on a decision such as this. Assuming that the higher-ups @ Algoryx pay attention to the opinions of the forum members when choosing mods.
And the thread that I was referencing was Chronos for president.

Emanuel WORKS at Algoryx. He's a paid employee. All employees that frequent the forums are automatically admins. The only people who have ever been appointed who weren't admins, however, were long time community members.

And how long is long enough? Okay, I've never looked at more than a few topics on the old forums... And does this mean that non-Algoryx-people can't be admins? Or re you just confusing my brain with multiple meanings of the word "admin"?
