Suggestion: Move the "water" to the foreground and slightly reduce its transparency to about 40%. It will then look more like the sphere is being immersed into the water.

Looks like it would be a fun mechanical project. I'm not very talented when it comes to making complex mechanical assemblies with Algodoo, but it looks like the perfect project for a mechanically-talented person such as yourself.
