High up in the air, Ozone protects s from UV light, and other molecules, like CFC-12 for example, can destroy the Ozone by reacting with UV light and releasing a Chlorine atom, which goes on a rampage, destroying all Ozone it hits. Nowadays, we use compounds that don't aren't so destructive in the Ozone layer.
