a strange idea for a means of flight that occured to me after crafting a simpler wing than the one in some older scenes of mine. W to start flying. I didn't bother setting up any other controls though, this is just an interesting mechanical concept. It's certainly not energy-efficient though, given it exploits sliding friction.

Interesting concept. I believe "vel = ..." script does the lifting.
that's right, it finds the "sideways" speed of the wing, and using that "vel =" line, applies an opposing force proportional to that sideways speed squared.
A scripted wing makes sense. I had thought that "exploits sliding friction" meant that friction was somehow providing an upwards force.
oh, no, sliding friction was in reference to the system that pitches the wings, the circle segments above the wings, each pressed up into a box.
