the standard mechanism would be better, because it's able to make a tightier seal between the source of power, and its harnesser. most misfire issues algodoo guns have are derived from too much force buildup with the power source.

if i removed the gas piston it would no longer rechamber the next round because the bolt spring is so strong
Even at lower frequencies this mechanism would lead to much higher refire rates because you dont need a heavy bullet or super strong bullet spring
the bolt spring can actually be stronger then the bullet spring.
If i felt motivated to do so i could change the spring tensions to low enough values and run it at 100htz and it would still fire much faster, and be much more reliable then a gun using the standard mechanism.

The so called "gas" system doesn't do anything....
All the energy for cycling is from blow back.
This is really just a dressed up blow back system, partially delayed due to more mass.
