The Prytz planimeter is a tool for measuring area. It is also called a Hatchet Planimeter.

Instructions:
1. Use the hand tool to move the orange dot horizontally out from the center to the edge of the area you wish to measure.
2. Drag the orange dot over the boundary of the area until you get back to where you started.
3. Drag the orange dot back to the center of the object.
4. The area of the object will be displayed in the box.

The area is computed internally by multiplying the distance between the orange and purple dots (2 meters) times the change in position of the purple dot.

Rev A: Added cross hairs to the orange dot.

The orange dot is rather wide, and therefore makes a very imprecise pointer. The real planimeter has a sharp point which makes measuring more precise.

Interesting scene!

Thanks for the feedback. I added crosshairs to the orange dot.
Nice addition! I like this type of scene because it's not some silly, worthless junk scene that we often see here on Algobox. It's informative and educational. Good job.
