The Colt M4 is a select-fire carbine designed for use in the military. The primary variants are the M4 and M4A1. The primary difference between the two is that the M4 uses a burst mechanism and the M4A1 uses a fully automatic mechanism.

To field Strip: clear and safe the weapon (no round in chamber, magazine removed, and selector is on "safe"), pull the retention pin to the rear, and use the charging handle to extract the bolt carrier. reverse the process to reassemble
